"Boats and the sea have been part of my life forever," explains Mark. "Growing up in Hamble, sailing dinghies from an early age, yacht racing, being an RYA instructor - it's in the blood!"
A career around boats was always likely. Mark entered luxury yacht sales with Sunseeker in 1997 and within three years was sales and general manager, running their operation in Menorca. He returned to the UK south coast as sales director for Sealine, then moved to Prestige Yachts, working across France and the UK.
He joined Princess Motor Yacht Sales in 2014 as used boat manager, the role he holds today. Nearly three decades in the industry have given him an in-depth insight into what buyers actually need - and, just as importantly, the patience to let them arrive at the decision themselves.
"You can't tell someone which luxury yacht they should choose. Our role is to give them everything they need to make that decision for themselves. We can show them the potential and the options available, depending on the motivation that's brought them to this point."
"It's really not about selling; it's about enabling people to see the possibilities and sparking the imagination about what the yacht-owning lifestyle can bring. Once they can see the opportunities, we can guide them towards the right yacht for their aspirations and way of life."
With experience spanning sales, accounts, service and marketing, Mark is well placed to advise on what to expect beyond the sale itself - the realities of ownership, running costs and the years that follow.
Over the past decade he's watched the business evolve to keep pace with a dynamic market. "What I enjoy about Princess is the variety and the forward thinking. We're always moving ahead, developing new ideas like YachtQuarters, our shared-ownership model, and offering greater choice with new and diverse brands. It keeps us all interested and motivated - and it's fun too!"
