Myra Hobbs has joined the Princess Motor Yacht Sales yacht aftercare team to look after our customers on the island of Mallorca. She joins the team at what is undoubtedly one of the busiest times of the year! We caught up with her and asked her just a little bit about her background.
Explains Myra:
"I have been in the industry for more than 25 years - which has included 14 years in Poole in Dorset and another 11 years on the island of Mallorca!
"I started off as a yacht broker in Poole for several years, which was then followed by a six year role with IPC Marine Media, publishers of Motorboat and Yachting, Motorboats Monthly, Yachting Monthly, Yachting World, and Practical Boat Owner where I was in charge of the archives and reprint service (for boat test reports and reviews). It was a role where my knowledge of yacht makes and models came in extremely handy! I've also had experience working in the offices of both a boatyard and a shipwright."
She continues;
"Since moving to Mallorca in 2007, I have never looked back. I have been lucky enough to stay within the marine industry and enjoyed a variety of roles. The common thread being boats! I was a yacht broker for a year, and then moved on to work on several Palma based motor yachts, with a variety of roles including stewardess, deckhand, cook, yacht manager/guardiennage, and captain on boats between 70-85ft. Following that I was office manager for a marine electrician, so have already been involved at the sharp end of technical and aftercare services.
It is safe to say that there is little about boats that Myra doesn't know, and as a boat owner herself, she is now able to use all of her knowledge and experience in handling the needs of Princess yacht owners, ensuring any technical or aftercare work needed is scheduled in and liaising with her customers throughout the process.
So what is her favourite yacht? "I would rather fancy zipping around Mallorca on the V48 Open, as it is big enough to have the home comforts I like but still small/shallow enough to get close to the beautiful beaches or into the smaller isolated coves.
As well as her keen interest in everything yachting, Myra still has time for her other great passions which are photography, cooking, cycling and being a slave to her two house rabbits!
As a member of our team of friendly aftercare concierges, Princess owners on the island will now be able to enjoy the benefit of Myra's dedication and knowledge as she grows into her new role.
